PF1 Prerequisites

Participant must be a physical therapist or licensed health care provider. No prior courses required for enrollment.  Participants interested in the pelvic floor and pelvic girdle with external application are encouraged to take Foundations class now called Pelvic Floor and Pelvic Girdle.

For Participants with Confirmed Registration, the remainder of this page provides you with the information you need to complete the course prerequisites and answers common questions about the seminar. There are five required download PDF files for PF 1, three required readings and the bladder diary and instructions. In order to get the most benefit from the training, now is the time to begin your prerequisite reading and bladder diary assignments.  Please complete them now and bring them to the first day of the seminar. Reading is also for participants electing to take the post course didactic test for academic achievement.

Bladder Diary Assignment: (Attached, print 2 days of diary and the Instructions)

We ask that you keep a personal bladder diary measuring and recording fluid intake and urine output for two days - one work day and one off day.   Specific measurements (use large measuring cup or urine collection “hat”) of urine output are needed for at least one day, and on the following day you can estimate by counting seconds while you are voiding.  Complete instructions are  available for download.

Suggested readings and supplies to bring:

The lab sessions include specific examination techniques, exercise instruction, and an individual trial with biofeedback and electrical stimulation equipment.  Surface perineal anatomy and internal vaginal pelvic floor muscle examinations will be instructed.  Participation in the internal lab is the choice of each participant, but is strongly encouraged and recommended. Participants will be asked to work on each other.  For these labs, clothes with easy access to the abdominal wall and pelvis are recommended.  Some women find full skirts a comfortable choice.

Patient and practitioner educational materials and resources will be available for sale at the seminar.

We look forward to the seminar and the opportunity to train more therapists in pelvic therapy. If you have any specific concerns or questions please email us at admin@pelvicrehab.com.
