Dr. Emma Taylor, founder of Sisu Boston Physical Therapy and Performance, developed a passion and enthusiasm for rehabilitation after years of competing in sports, and appreciating the rehabilitation process she went through herself as an athlete. She began working with pregnant and postpartum women after realizing that there was a need to bridge the gap between traditional physical therapy and the unique, sport or fitness-specific demands that these women face in their fitness and recovery journeys. Her specialization focuses on pregnant and postpartum active, "everyday" athletes, where she combines her expertise in sports rehabilitation with her understanding of the specific challenges faced by women in these phases. Recognizing that many women return to fitness activities too soon or without proper guidance, Emma works with everyday athletes to ensure a safe and effective transition back to training. She addresses the physical and biomechanical changes that occur during pregnancy and postpartum, tailoring rehabilitation programs to individual needs and goals. Whether it's returning to running, strength training, or high-intensity activities, Emma provides specialized care that supports both performance and recovery for athletes during these critical life stages. When not with clients, you can likely find Emma training for her next long-distance triathlon. She has completed two full 140.6 Ironmans and eleven 70.3 Ironmans, qualifying for 70.3 World Championships three times, and 140.6 World Championships once in her career. Emma is a board-certified clinical specialist in sports physical therapy, a pregnancy and postpartum corrective exercise specialist, Herman and Wallace Trained Pelvic Floor level 1 and 2B provider, dry needling provider, certified strength and conditioning coach and a USA Triathlon Certified Coach. She holds a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Health: Science, Society, & Policy, and Psychology from Brandeis University, where she also was on the Women’s Soccer and Track and Field teams. Dr. Taylor earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, completed her sports physical therapy residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and Northeastern University, and her fellowship at Boston University.
