Elizabeth Bourlas PT, DPT, PRPC Northwestern Specialists for Women
Elizabeth Bourlas PT, DPT, PRPC is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a Pelvic Rehabilitation Certified Practitioner. She received her DPT from Rosalind Franklin University in 2012 during which she completed two clinical rotations with a Women’s Health/Pelvic Floor focus. It was during these clinicals she found her passion for treating the Pelvic Health patient population. Following graduation, Elizabeth practiced for several years at an outpatient orthopedic facility where she created and grew a successful Pelvic Health and Post-Mastectomy Rehabilitation program for her downtown Chicago clinic. During this time, she set her sights on taking as many Women’s/Men’s Health continuing education courses at Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute prior to sitting for and passing their certification exam. Elizabeth eventually managed her West Loop clinic and has been a clinical instructor for several students interested in women’s health therapy. Prior to pursuing her doctorate, Elizabeth was in healthcare administration at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C. She received a BA in economics from the University of Virginia, where she was also a 4-year member and captain of the varsity women’s lacrosse team. During her time at UVA, Elizabeth led her team to a national championship in 2004. Although her lacrosse career has officially ended, she spent many years coaching and advocating for both lacrosse and women in sports. As a former competitive gymnast, two-time marathon runner, college athlete, skier and mom of two young children, she understands the important role fitness plays in patients’ lives. Elizabeth focuses her care on functional strengthening around reaching the patient’s goals, whether it is being able to return to running or lift their newborn without pain.
