Dr. Peter A. Philip Philip Physical Therapy
Dr. Peter A. Philip PT, ScD, COMT, PRPC is a two- time graduate of Quinnipiac University; in 1996 with a bachelors in Physical Therapy and in 1999 with a Masters in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. In 2011 Dr. Philip completed his Doctorate of Science in Physical Therapy with a concentration in Orthopedics, Pelvic Pain and Education. Dr. Philip has dedicated his life’s work to the eradication of pain and dysfunction. He treats both chronic and acute conditions alike, and bases his success on an integration of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and pathoanatomy. He is a national lecturer; working with the Herman & Wallace Institute he conveys his knowledge and experience to medical doctors, physical therapists, occupational therapists and chiropractic physicians alike. The information has been published as a textbook through Thieme; Pelvic Pain and Dysfunction- a differential diagnostic manual. Since 1997, Dr. Philip has been the owner/director of Philip Physical Therapy, which is currently located in New Canaan, Connecticut. After initiating his private practice out of his truck with a reflex hammer and folding table, he is grateful to have an office space from which to work, as driving 1,000 miles a week had become quite taxing. Treating patients with orthopedic and pelvic dysfunctions, pelvic pain and bladder/bowel dysfunctions he incorporates sound differential diagnostics and treatment strategies that address the body as a functional unit, taking in a global perspective and deducing the specific pain generator involved in his patients suffering, while also deducing the origin of the pain to best provide the patient the opportunity to prevent future pain exacerbations. In 2010, he was acknowledged by the International Association of Orthopedic Medicine (IAOM) as a leader in the field of nonsurgical medicine, and was certified as an orthopedic manual therapist (COMT). In 2014 he was one of eighteen clinicians, the only East Coast resident/clinician and the only male in the United States of America to receive a Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification (PRPC) Dr. Philip was mentored by Dr. Russell Woodman and publically acknowledges his appreciation for all that Dr. Woodman has done for him and the practice of medicine alike. Dr. Woodman introduced Dr. Philip to the art of manual medicine and differential diagnostics in 1991, and in 1995 Dr. Woodman had Dr. Philip as a national co-lecturer on topics including the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral spines, hip, shoulder, knee and ankle.
