Elizabeth Pinkerton, PT, DPT Purple Mountain Physical Therapy
Dr. Liz Pinkerton, DPT is an experienced pelvic health, spine, hip, TMJ disorder and orthopedic physical therapist. Dr. Pinkerton has lived and worked in West Michigan for more than 10 years as a physical therapist and also achieved both her Bachelor's in Exercise Science and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Grand Valley State University. With the combination of her degrees (exercise science & physical therapy) and specifically focusing on the unique needs of pelvic health, spine and TMJ disorders, Dr. Pinkerton can analyze human movements and fully assess and treat ailments causing pain, muscular imbalances and dysfunctions. She enjoys helping patients reach their goals by developing a comprehensive, whole-body treatment plan. Dr. Pinkerton came to the field of physical therapy with a strong love for Exercise Science and Sports Performance. Through her years of work in orthopedics and pelvic health, she understands the complexity of pelvic health conditions and spine pain and enjoys helping patients experience authentic healing. Her experience treating all orthopedic conditions that commonly ail her patients, such as foot, knee, shoulder, and hip conditions, is invaluable in her ability to develop an effective and comprehensive treatment plan for her patients. She treats all pelvic floor PT conditions including, but not limited to, urinary incontinence, pregnancy and postpartum care, post-prostatectomy recovery, pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis recti, chronic prostatitis, chronic pelvic pain, overactive bladder, interstitial cystitis, endometriosis and painful intercourse. She has clinical interest and advanced training in treating neck, back and SI joint issues. To best help her patients, she has pursued post-doctoral training and received mentorship in a variety of methods and techniques including McKenzie, Muscle Energy Techniques and Mulligan techniques which combine hands-on manual therapies with movement, a powerful combination to alleviate pain, stiffness, nerve irritation, pelvic floor dysfunction and altered movement patterns. She also has experience in treating patients with neurologic conditions and is LSVT BIG certified. Dr. Pinkerton has a soft place in her heart for youth athletes and enjoys working with pediatric patients so that it is fun, effective and provides meaningful results.
