Hello, I’m Ibukun but my friends call me Ibbie. I'm a physiotherapist and the owner of The Mama’s Physio in London, Ontario, Canada. I absolutely love what I do. I love working in pelvic health and I consider it an honour and a privilege that women entrust their care to me. Over the years I've learned so much from this profession - especially through my clients. They have helped me become more effective, a better therapist and a better person. My interest in women’s health began when I was completing my Master’s degree in physiotherapy at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. I completed a rotation in international health and travelled to a rural hospital in Uganda, East Africa. As I worked in the maternity ward of the hospital, I saw first hand how meaningful and essential it is to women to have a health advocate and coach on their team, especially when it came to childbirth and the post-partum period. It was a profound experience which planted a seed in me that would eventually grow to become The Mama's Physio. At our office we have 5 physios who are all trained in pelvic health physiotherapy. We work with women across the lifespan - from late teens to seniors. We also treat children who present with pelvic floor challenges. We are very intentional about taking a holistic to approach to health and using the biopsychosocial framework to treat pelvic health conditions. We treat incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, constipation, pelvic pain, sexual pain and dysfunction, abdominal/gut issues, diastasis rectus abdominis, pregnancy related conditions, and much more. For a more comprehensive listing of what we treat, please check out: https://www.themamasphysio.com/about/#_what-we-treat A bit about my educational background: I graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an honours degree in Kinesiology in 2005, and obtained my Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from Queen’s University in 2007. I have worked in Ottawa and London in private and public settings, and have attended a number of national and global conferences to keep up with my knowledge base. I have also completed many post-graduate courses, including my certification levels in pelvic health. And I’m a bit of a geek when it comes to learning, so you can always find me reading up on the most recent research evidence in the world of women’s health. I also started a pelvic health journal club which brings together pelvic health physiotherapists across our region. My clinical interests include women’s health, peri-natal care, pelvic health, sexual health, integrated, collaborative and holistic treatment of the whole person, and global health issue. I also really enjoy working with female athletes and leading seminars and workshops on all things pelvic health. I am registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) and Ontario Physiotherapy Association. I am also a member of the Women’s Health Division of the CPA and past a executive member of the Global Health Division of the CPA. Then there's my education from the school of life: I'm married to a pretty awesome guy and together we're raising 4 young kids. My experiences in this realm of life have given me an even greater heart for the women we serve at The Mama's Physio. If you are in our area and seeking care or if you have any questions at all about your pelvic or peri-natal health, don't hesitate to fire me an email: info@themamasphysio.com.
