Karen Weeks graduated Biology- Pre-Med from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1997 and completed her graduate work in Physical Therapy at Midwestern University in 2000. Over the past almost two decades, Karen has worked in Outpatient Orthopedics, from Sports Medicine to Spinal Rehabilitation and has focused solely in Women’s and Men’s Health Rehabilitation for the past 13 years. She has worked at West Suburban’s Center for Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Center, Urological Specialists, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and Florendo Physical Therapy. She was one of the first clinicians to receive her ABPTS Board Certification as a Clinical Specialist in Women’s Health Physical Therapy in 2009. She also holds CAPP (Certificate in Pelvic Physical Therapy) Certification from the Section on Women’s Health and she is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. Karen currently practices at the Integrated Pelvic Health Program at Northwestern, as an inter-disciplinary team member with Urogynecologists, Urologists and Colo-Rectal Surgeons and plays an integral role in the PEAPOD (Peripartum Evaluation and Assessment of the Pelvic Floor around Delivery), a specialty clinic devoted to the recovery of Post-Partum Women, predominately those who have sustained third and fourth-degree perineal lacerations during delivery. Karen has special interest in Pelvic Floor Dysfunction in women and men with Chronic Pelvic Pain, Vulvodynia, Urinary and Bowel Dysfunction, Sacro-Iliac Dysfunction and Pregnancy-Related/Post-Partum Rehabilitation. She is an active member in the Section on Women’s Health, serves at the Illinois State Representative for the SOWH, and also maintains active membership in the American Physical Therapy Association, Illinois Physical Therapy Association (Easter District Assembly Representative), American Urogynecologic Society and the Chicagoland Pelvic Floor Research Consortium.
