Dr. Lindsay Backiev, PT, DPT (she/her) is a graduate of the University of Southern California where she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. She was awarded the Order of the Golden Cane, the USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy's highest honor for graduates that have demonstrated excellence in academic coursework, clinical practice, and scientific research. She is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy and utilizes movement analysis and evidence based practice to collaborate with patients across the lifespan to improve function, mobility, and to achieve their unique goals. She has completed coursework through the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute and IPC - Integrated Pelvic Care to further her professional practice, establishing the pelvic health physical therapy program at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush (Chicago, IL). At the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (Chicago, IL), she provided care to patients with orthopedic and pelvic health physical therapy needs and was a founding member of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Sexual Orientation and Gender Identities (SOGI) Task Force, working tirelessly to bring patient-centered care to LGBTQIA+ individuals and to combat trauma in health care settings. As a former professional dancer, she has expertise in performing arts physical therapy, with pelvic health special interests in transgender care, postpartum return to stage, and male pelvic pain. Lindsay is the 2023-2025 Fellow-in-Training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Performing Arts Physical Therapy Fellowship Program (Baltimore, MD), working in partnership with the Peabody Institute, to gain advanced-level training to promote performing arts healthcare.
