Mikaela C. Corbett, PT, DPT is a physical therapist who specializes in treating conditions of the pelvic floor. She will work with the patient and their physician to develop an individualized treatment plan. Evaluation of the pelvic floor is performed with careful attention paid to patient privacy and dignity. Pelvic floor muscle strengthening, manual therapy, biofeedback and lifestyle modification are a few of the techniques used to treat conditions of the pelvic floor. Pelvic floor physical therapy is used to help normalize urinary, bowel and sexual function. Some of the conditions that are commonly treated in pelvic floor physical therapy are urinary incontinence, urinary urgency, increased urinary frequency, nocturia or a condition where you wake up multiple times during sleeping hours to urinate, constipation, fecal incontinence, fecal urgency, pelvic pain, and prolapse. Mikaela can additionally treat patients who have had changes in pelvic function due to pregnancy, surgery, cancer, or neurological changes. Males, females, and children can benefit from this treatment to return to normal function and improve overall quality of life.
