Mylan [“Mi-Lahn” She/Her ] is a Physical Therapist specializing in orthopedics, pelvic health, perinatal exercise, sports rehab and performing arts medicine. She graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Sociology and earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in San Diego, CA and has been practicing in the greater Seattle area since 2012. As a Physical Therapist, Mylan helps people of all ages, genders, identities, and backgrounds reduce their pain, rebuild their strength and confidence, and live the way they want through movement. Mylan treats the body as an integrated system and views how we move as an outward expression of who we are. Every person deserves to move through life how they want in a body that feels genuinely theirs - one that feels capable, safe, and whole. She centers her client’s experiences and listens to what they value, acknowledging that “being healthy” means something different to everyone. Her approach is holistic and eclectic, rooted in movement sciences with a biopsychosocial and trauma-informed lens. She will always meet you where you are at. Mylan has a special interest in addressing the unique needs of artistic athletes - performers, dancers, vocalists, musicians, and stagehands. Outside of the clinic, she provides backstage physical therapy support for touring companies at The Paramount and 5th Ave Theater in downtown Seattle. She is a proud Asian-American with parents who immigrated to the states to pursue professions in medicine. She carries on her parents’ legacy as a Physical Therapist, by helping those around her, and treating all people with empathy, compassion and respect. She is passionate about supporting BIPOC and LGBQT+ individuals as well as other underserved and under-represented communities. Since 2016, she has provided physical therapy support at the Seattle/King County Clinic, an annual volunteer-driven clinic that provides free medical services at Climate Pledge Arena. Mylan is a lifelong mover and learner and loves challenging her body and brain in new and fun ways. She has played volleyball, soccer, and ice-skated, she has practiced the martial art of Tae-Kwon Do, she dances for both stage performance and for fun, and plays musical instruments. Being an athlete, a performer, a mother, a caregiver and a healthcare provider has given Mylan a deep appreciation of how incredibly resilient and adaptable our bodies are. She intimately understands what it's like when your body doesn’t feel connected, the mental challenges that can occur during the healing process, and the incredible sense of joy that transpires when you return to the thing you love. She hopes to help you towards your movement goals so you can feel the joy of moving and feeling like you.
