Rebecca Mendak PT, DPT Element Wellness and Sports Rehabilitation
Dr. Rebecca is a Portland native who grew up playing volleyball and took up collegiate rowing in her time at Oregon State University. She graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science with emphasis in physical therapy and nursing. It was during this time that she realized her deep interest in body mechanics as they relate to proper movement patterns and human connection. After working in a physical therapy clinic for 2 years, she went on to Boston University where she earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2014. Rebecca believes in individualizing her treatment to the unique and complex factors that make up someone’s everyday life. She enjoys treating all orthopedic conditions utilizing a variety of treatment approaches based on the patient’s need including rehab based on activation of the deep core stabilizers, Myofascial Release, and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM). She realized her enthusiasm for pelvic floor physical therapy near the end of her time at BU and has since gone on to pursue formal education in pelvic floor conditions, including women’s health, pre- peri- and post-partum care. She is also trained in men’s pelvic health. Rebecca acknowledges the deep connection of the pelvic floor to all parts of the body in her work. Rebecca is a trauma-informed provider who also does visceral manipulation to promote and optimize gut health. She believes strongly in the importance of individuals taking part in their own healing through education with careful guidance and personalized care. Her goal is to help patients have a healthy and active lifestyle and achieve their desired potential. Rebecca enjoys quality time with friends and family, most often sharing a meal or coffee. In the winters, she coaches for Stumptown Volleyball Club with her husband.
