Stephanie Nguyen, PT , DPT is a Phoenix native who attended Northern Arizona University for both her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2011. She recently moved from her beloved company, Spooner Physical Therapy in Phoenix, AZ, to Olympic Sport and Spine Physical Therapy in Gig Harbor, WA in Jan 2020. Stephanie personally underwent pelvic floor rehabilitation following the birth of her son in 2015 which increased her awareness to the need for and efficacy of specialized treatment. She began taking continuing education courses at the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehab Institute while actively treating many patients who experienced her same postpartum challenges. Stephanie also has a significant history of endometriosis and surgical intervention which provides her with understanding and empathy of the symptoms many of her patients are currently experiencing. Stephanie has 7+ years of experience with pelvic health and incorporates much of her orthopedic background and training in many of her pelvic health cases/visits. Stephanie treats both males and females and most commonly treats patients experiencing: • Fecal or urinary incontinence • Chronic pelvic pain (vulvodynia, vaginismus, interstitial cystitis, endometriosis, painful intercourse, lichen sclerosis) • Pudendal neuralgia • Pelvic organ prolapse • Bowel and bladder dysfunction • Post hernia repair • Treatment following pelvic cancers • Hip and low back pain associated with childbirth or surgery • Lumbosacral and sacroiliac dysfunction and coccydynia. Stephanie acknowledges there is a great deal of psychological and emotional stress that accompany these diagnoses. Her personal experience provides her with an in-depth understanding of the life altering challenges patients are presented with while undergoing treatment and management of their symptoms. She is very focused on demonstrating empathy and compassion for her patients going through this journey. She is passionate about building one-on-one relationships with her patients to determine the best course of care that allows them to return to normal function. She is dedicated to elevating standards of healthcare by providing outstanding, individualized care and believes this can best be done through continual education, evidence based rehabilitation, advanced manual therapy techniques and functional training.
