Tania Alarcon-Montalvo is a New York State Licensed Physical Therapist and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She attended S.U.N.Y Downstate Medical School and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy in 1996 and a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy in 2003. She has worked at New York Presbyterian Hospital for over 20 years in a variety of clinical settings, treating a variety of diagnoses and continues to work there part-time mostly in an orthopedic setting and in pelvic floor rehabilitation. She also works part-time in a mental health clinic providing mental health counseling. *Her clinical experience and personal mission to learn a more holistic approach to healing allows her to provide a comprehensive treatment approach to patient care. She strives to provide high quality treatment for infants, children, and adults with chronic pain, neurological, vascular, developmental (early intervention), and musculoskeletal problems. *As a lymphedema specialist certified through the International Association of Healthcare Practitioners/Chikly Health Institute, she worked closely with women with breast cancer for over four years. This led her to pursue a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling in 2013 at The City College of New York, to help understand and address issues of anxiety and depression in her patients facing and living with cancer. *She has received training through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute, Myofascial Release Treatment Center with John Barnes, and the Barral Institute to address various women's health issues including urinary incontinence, urinary frequency, urinary urgency, prolapse, and chronic pelvic pain. *As a health care professional her goal is to provide a holistic approach, to integrate different modalities of treatment including visceral manipulation, myofascial release, bladder training, biomechanics and postural training, therapeutic exercises, and relaxation techniques to facilitate healing of the mind and body.
