Tiana Wood, OTR/L, LMT, is the owner and lead therapist at Empowered Foundations Pelvic Floor Therapy & Bodywork, which she opened in late 2022. She provides massage and pelvic floor therapies that take each client's whole person into account and focuses on their individual needs and goals. For her massages, she integrates a variety of modalities, including Swedish, deep-tissue, myofascial release, trigger point release, and lymphatic massage. She has specialized training in Thai massage and prenatal, postpartum, and labor support massage. For pelvic floor therapy, she incorporates education, hands-on bodywork, and movement. She is committed to empowering all of her clients with an understanding of their own bodies and the tools to heal themselves and regain strength and function, throughout all phases of life. Tiana earned her diploma in Massage Therapy in 2002, her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Georgia in 2005, and her Master of Occupational Therapy degree from University of Washington in Seattle, WA in 2015. She found her true calling in pelvic health in early 2022. She has completed Herman & Wallace Levels 1 and 2B and is committed to pursuing further education in pelvic health, myofascial release, and massage therapy to strengthen her knowledge base and clinical skills to address the therapy needs of her pelvic health and massage clients. Just in this year, she has completed two courses from Nicole Cozean of Pelvic PT Rising (Rectal Evaluation and Treatment and IC: Holistic Evaluation and Treatment) and has attended Gil Hedley's The Nerve Project: Exploring the Nerve Tree in Relationship, three John F. Barnes' Myofascial Release courses: Unwinding, Fascial-Pelvis, and Women's Health Seminar, the AOTA's annual conference, and also a pelvic health OT retreat to enhance her skills. She is also currently virtually attending another course from Nicole Cozean of Pelvic PT Rising, Nicole's Essential Pelvic Strengthening: Not Your Mama's Kegels. Tiana has also registered for a course by Sarah Duvall, of Core Exercise Solutions, Sarah's Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist, to earn her PCES. Empowered Foundations Pelvic Floor Therapy & Bodywork is the first and only pelvic health clinic in the Savannah area that is privately owned by an occupational therapist. Tiana has never given the same pelvic health or massage treatment twice, because it's entirely individualized. Each session is private and one on one. Tiana believes that receiving therapeutic touch and bodywork is one of the most important of aspects of healing. She is passionate about normalizing conversations about pelvic and sexual health and educating and empowering people of all genders in the Georgia and South Carolina Lowcountry community.
